I learned how to make a podcast and a youtube video. I learned how to make a blog and how to look up other peoples blogs. I also learned sevral difffrent ways to add technology into my classroom and learned how my class mates will include it into their classrooms. I would recomend this class to all other fututre teachers and I hope everyone gets as much as i got out of the class. Thank you so much and have a great time.Brittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02452006584852754280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8876605979225229243.post-31394360383183599692010-11-07T17:21:00.001-08:002010-11-07T17:21:18.982-08:00ABC's With ElmoBrittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02452006584852754280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8876605979225229243.post-62158738523100320002010-11-07T17:09:00.001-08:002010-11-07T17:09:38.447-08:00My 1st Youtube VideoBrittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02452006584852754280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8876605979225229243.post-29809361220810142302010-10-31T13:08:00.001-07:002010-10-31T13:11:44.859-07:00My PodcastListen!Brittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02452006584852754280noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8876605979225229243.post-69603398745924493422010-10-17T13:36:00.001-07:002010-10-17T13:36:30.356-07:00Photo Sharing"I read on other teacher blogs that Flickr is really good for the classroom, and I think, 'No way,'" says Jamie Tubbs, a fifth-grade teacher in Cincinnati. "It's open to anybody, and, because of that, you've got to assume people will put stuff there that will be offensive." Yes Tubbs is correct there might be offensive photos but what photo sharing site doesn’t have that risk. What are we suppose to do block all photo sharing web sites. You can find offensive photos by Googling are we going to block Google now too? Rather than blocking these sites of the future we should focus on teaching our students how to use them properly and teaching them internet safety so they know what to do and how to protect their information. “Tubbs, like many teachers, uses Flickr avidly, but he shies away from bringing it into the classroom. Rather than let students search for photos, he finds them on his own time and brings them into class as writing prompts or for blog entries.” I think Tubbs should try to be a little more open to new ideas and open to the future. You could have the students look up photos for writing assignments, PowerPoint projects, like the article stated you can look up and photo and have the students write a blog or a writing prompt for the photo. When I was in high school I was photo editor for the yearbook and my new staffers I had them find 3 different kinds of photos and write captions for them. Then I went over the captions when they finished the assignment and helped them. I taught some how to write a caption and I corrected others and it not only helped me as a teacher see where my students were but also helped them see some improvement. Then at the end of the year I showed them their captions in the yearbook and they all felt so proud of them self’s. You can also search photos to put up in your classroom. I searched apples and found so many cool apple photos I could hang up in my classroom with my student’s names on it. You can look up planets, plants, tools, cars, ABC’s and 123,’s. It’s amazing how easy it is to find any photo on the internet. You just need to be open minded and get creative.Brittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02452006584852754280noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8876605979225229243.post-62390474531380790002010-10-09T13:02:00.001-07:002010-10-09T13:05:28.375-07:00Steve Hargadon - Classroom 2.0“You don't really know which social networking sites you create will take off or succeed. Clay Shirkey reminds us that when "failure is free" you get innovative experimentation because you can easily move on from failures.” I picked this one because it’s very true. You never know if everyone is going to like your web site. Odds are that some people will like it but others will not and we just need to learn how to make it more appealing to those who don’t like it. This is how we improve our web sites. Then with social networks they are always being replaced. We had myspace, then it was facebook and now everyone is switching to twitter or scipe.
“It turns out that you are especially dependent on early adopters for the success of the network--in some cases, they are more important than you as the network creator are.” This is very true! Yes the network creator is important because they make all the changes and they are the main key in the network but without adopters and the users this network is useless. A network isn’t a network if no one is using it. If no one signed up to use myspace or facebook then they wouldn’t have become as popular as they did. Then the creators would have had to try again till they find something that people enjoy.Brittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02452006584852754280noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8876605979225229243.post-1115207595992036732010-10-03T14:32:00.000-07:002010-10-09T13:02:13.280-07:00WikiI can use wiki in my classes because it’s a easy way to keep yourself organized. You can make a new page for each class and use it to do your homework and plan your day. You might have essays and homework, blogs. You can post videos for your teachers and classmate to see. You can let your classmates help you fix your spelling and grammar. If you’re the teacher and you have a wiki you can use it to get info out to your students. You can use it for almost anything, I am sure you can find a way to post grades on it. To be honest these days you don’t need a classroom to teach. We are learning that and doing that by taking this class now. We don’t get to see each other and most of us don’t see our teachers every day. We can do everything now online but is that best? I do think it’s good to have internet and to use technology in the classroom but our younger children still need to go to school and we can’t just remove school out and have everyone learn online. Wiki is a good way to help introduce our younger student to technology before they get to college and before they take an online course. It will help the students do better and it will help bring technology into the classroom.Brittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02452006584852754280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8876605979225229243.post-20249787997874830522010-10-03T14:15:00.001-07:002010-10-03T14:15:01.889-07:00My WikiHere is my Wiki so you all can see it!

Are Our Kids Ready for This? When I read this I agreed with him 100%. How important is it that we make our students ready for these types of self-directed learning opportunities? It is very good to teach our students and to get them ready for self directed learning. We need to make sure we prepare our students as much as possible. How can we begin to weave some of these types of experiences into our current curriculum? We can help teach our students how to make goals and show them when they reach them. We have them learn how do be independent and strong.

School as Video Game? I think it is a good idea to se video games to teach. Its not saying replace school with video games. I the students would use math to figure out how much time they have to play and to add up the points. They use several of the multiple intelligences for example they use logical-mathematical intelligence by doing math. They use linguistic intelligence by reading and talking with each other about what to do next in the game. They use spatial intelligence to find out where they are and where the bad guys are in the games and need to figure out how to win. They use bodily-kinesthetic intelligence by jumping up and down and moving around. The music in the game help students develops musical intelligence. They help build both interpersonal intelligence and intrapersonal intelligence by working with others to win the game or when they work alone. Finally last but not least naturalist intelligence comes into play because yes they are inside playing but there are trees in the games and animals so that helps build the naturalist intelligence.

The Assessment Problem? “The Ed Leadership essay suggests that while these “21st Century Skills” are really any century skills, the path to “success” (depending on how you define that) is more dependent on having those skills today than ever before.” We need to teach out student’s not only basic math and English that we have been teaching for a life time but lifelong skills. “Maybe it’s just that the people in charge don’t have the creativity, innovation and problem solving skills to figure this out. (They are products of the system, after all.) But here’s the deal: so what? School’s starting, and it’s 2010 which means we’re in “doing both” mode. We’re making sure the kids pass the test, but we also have to make sure that our own assessments are doing more to evaluate our students ability to do all those other things we want them to be able to do that aren’t currently being assessed.” We need to make sure when our students leave our classrooms they are ready for the next level not only in school but in life too. It’s not far that some children are better at test then others and it’s not far we judge them on how well they do on stupid test. We as teacher see how much a child has improved and we get the blessing to watch them grow. Test and our government do not watch or see the children grow and it’s unfortunate for them. They just look at a test and say well Thomas is not doing well in math but they don’t know that Thomas might be an RSP student where teachers know where their students strengths and weaknesses. I think assessments should be up to the teachers not the government.

I also believe that each child is a unique individual that needs a simulating atmosphere in with to mature, grow, and learn emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually. As a future educator it’s my job when I become a teacher to make sure I reach out and help every child reach all the goals I have set for them and all the goals they will set for them self’s. I will do this by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. I believe it takes a couple different ways to do this. The first is by having the teacher act as a guide, second by allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct their own learning. Then finally last but not least promoting respect for all things and all people. I believe with the help of a few good teachers and parents we will not only help our children out but we will help mold the future of America. These young minds that we are educating are the future leaders and the future voters of this country. We need to make sure they learn the tools to become educated so they can make a difference in the future too.

When people ask me about the pay I just tell them you don’t become a teacher for the pay. If you want a good paying job become a doctor or a lawyer. I would rather be happy with what I do rather than make a ton of money. The way I see it I get paid to do something I love and something I would do for free. Those who say teacher don’t get paid well are very mistaken see we get paid in more than one way. We get money plus we get to see these students grow up and we get to turn them into adults so that alone is good enough for me. I am going to be molding the minds of hundreds of children and creating the future. Teachers have the power build their students up or they can break them down. They can help the students do amazing things and learn who they are and what they want. Teaching has several benefits and forms of payment people these days are just so concerned about money and that’s another reason why we don’t have enough good teachers. I will work hard make a difference and give each student what they need to do well when I become a teacher. If I can just make a difference in just one students life per year when I become a teacher then that will mean more to me than any amount of money.
Brittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02452006584852754280noreply@blogger.com0
